Solar Reports How we do it, what you get and download a sample solar report by RoofOrders.com

How it Works

We build 3D models of the roof including roof obstructions and all surrounding structures and trees that can cast a shadow on the roof. Taking the local weather patterns, exact latitude and longitude and the tilt and orientation of each roof face we calculate direct beam irradiance and diffuse light at 15 minute intervals every day of the year. Data is summarized as a solar insolation map monthly and annually.

Deliverable

Along with what we give in Roof Report this report includes 13 pages of Solar Insolation maps, one annual average and 12 individual months in PDF (Ideal for Optimization of Solar Resources)

Solar Insolation: Solar Insolation is a measure of how much sun hits a specified area (e.g. portion of roof) and the intensity of the sunshine, also referred to as Irradiance over time.

Solar Shading: When obstructions such as trees block sunshine, they cast shadows. Shading Analysis measures the percentage reduction in insolation over a area due to obstructions during the course of a day throughout the year. Knowing the location, time and durations of shading allows designers to create highly optimized systems at the lowest cost.
